The
term "hospice"
has strong
roots in history, used to designate a resting
place for weary travelers on long journeys.
Today, hospice is an Inter-disciplinary care
service, which provides comfort and care to
the terminally ill and dying, on their
"journey" home. Hospice is a
special approach to care (relief of pain and
uncomfortable symptoms), as opposed to
curative care. Hospice specifically and
especially also addresses the psychosocial and
spiritual needs of the patient and
family/caregiver. We, at Good Will
Institute Hospice has a team of nurses,
physicians, social workers, and chaplains to
best meet the needs of the community.
Hospice
Affirms life, and neither hastens nor
postpones death. Good Will Institute
Hospice believes that dying of a
progressive terminal illness offers a
"precious
opportunity to
complete the most important tasks of one's
life"...working
through the saddest of times to find peace and
maintain one's dignity and integrity during
the dying process. Hospice
is one of the most complete and comprehensive
of all Medicare benefits, which includes all
medications, supplies, and equipment that are
related to the terminal illness/diagnosis.
